BEREAVEMENT LUNCHEON MINISTRY
Blessed are they who mourn . . .But who shall comfort me?
Covid-19 has certainly changed many things in our lives. One of them was our ability to gather together and hold one another in our grief. Although we are not socially completely over Covid, we are beginning to return to some normalcy. In an effort to care for our grieving Saint Michael family members, we would like to begin serving lunches after funeral services again. This ministry had been a Saint Michael standard for decades. We have about 30 funerals at Saint Michael per year but not all families wish to have their luncheon in the hall. Each luncheon takes about 10-15 volunteers including one coordinator. Our goal is to ask each volunteer to serve only 4-5 times a year. In order to realize this goal, we will need many volunteers.
SUPPORT OUR BEREAVEMENT LUNCHEON MINISTRY
Thanks to a wonderful group of people who have dedicated themselves to re-starting our Bereavement Funeral Luncheon Ministry here at the parish, we are ready to offer this to parish families celebrating Masses of Christian Burial here at Saint Michael. To assist in the funding for this ministry, there is a once-a-year envelope in our offertory packets in March, based on the Feast of Saint Joseph, who, among many patronages, serves as the patron of a happy death, as he died in the presence of his Son, our Lord, and the Blessed Mother. Thank you in advance for your generosity, and thank you to all who are offering their service and compassion to this ministry.
If you think you are called to this ministry, please fill out the form below and put it in the collection basket or call Juanita Sherba (330)565-8161.
I am interested in volunteering for the Funeral Dinner Ministry. Please contact me with more information.
