Purpose: To gather for companionship and to make small items for the sick and elderly.
They meet 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays in the Parish Center, September through June.
Anyone who can knit, crochet or sew (or would like to learn) is welcome to join the group.
Projects include lap throws, shoulder shrugs, slippers, yarn balls, puppets, hats and booties for children, bags for wheelchairs and walkers.
All items are distributed to nursing homes, hospitals and the needy.

We are the current members of an organization founded in 1968. At that time the group was the St. Michael Crafters, making many items that would eventually be sold at church events.
The Stitchers are an off-shoot of the Altar Guild with all funds generated given to the church. Later on Stitchers affiliated with R.S.V.P. with all items given to them for final distribution to those in need. Eventually R.S.V.P. became HandsOn Volunteer Network of the Valley who now distribute our items, mostly lap robes to veterans and nursing homes. We also directly donate baby blankets to the hospital facilities on McClurg road.
We are looking for new people and new ideas. In the past Stitchers has had to evolve as members left the parish for various reasons.
We hope you will help us to continue our service to St. Michael church and to the Mahoning County needy by joining with us to revive and enlarge our group for future success.
