Homebound/Care Facility Visitation Ministry

HOMEBOUND EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS pray with, visit, and support those parishioners who are homebound or in a care facility. By offering kindness and friendship on a one-on-one basis, they have the opportunity to brighten a parishioner's day with each visit, while at the same time keeping them connected to Saint Michael parish. Ministers are commissioned to bring Holy Eucharist to those they visit.

Those who take the Eucharist to the homebound or those in any care facility must have completed the requirements of the Diocesan Safe Environment Policy for Children and Vulnerable Adults. This is a Diocesan Wide policy.  However, this is not a requirement for a relative or close friend who is bringing Communion to one or two family members or close friends at their request. Should someone begin taking Communion to several different people in different households (other than relatives), they would then need to complete the policy.

Additionally, anyone who brings communion to another does so as a representative of a particular faith community (parish).  There are no “free agents” serving in this role simply because they are Catholic.  The parish office must know to whom Communion is being taken and that the Eucharistic Minister is trained for this ministry and in compliance with the protection policy.

If you are interested in becoming a Homebound Minister of the Eucharist, or know someone in need of the Eucharist, please contact the Parish Office.

PARISHIONERS WHO ARE NURSING HOME RESIDENTS, HOSPITALIZED, OR HOMEBOUND

If you know of a parishioner who is in a nursing home, either temporarily or permanently, please notify the Parish Office (330-533-6839) so we can add them to our nursing home list and schedule ministers to visit them. Nursing homes do not notify us if one of our parishioners is in residence there, so we must rely on friends and family to tell us.

If you are homebound or know of someone who is homebound and would like to receive the Eucharist, please call the Parish Office so you can be put on the visitation schedule.

When being admitted to the hospital, please let the admitting personnel know that you are a member of Saint Michael Parish and would like your name to be included on our hospital list.
