Homebound/Nursing Home/Hospital Visitation

Purpose:  To pray with, visit, and support those parishioners who are homebound, hospitalized, or in nursing homes.

By offering kindness and friendship on a one-on-one basis, we have the opportunity to brighten a parishioner's day with each visit, while at the same time keeping them connected to St. Michael parish. Ministers are also commissioned to bring Holy Eucharist to those they visit.

Eucharistic Ministers visit and bring Holy Communion to Homebound parishioners.

Would you like to make a difference in the life of a parishioner confined to a local nursing home/rehab facility?  You are asked to take communion to someone every four weeks.

If you would like to be part of the Homebound Visitation Ministry or Nursing Home/Rehab Center Ministry, contact the Parish Office.

If you know of a parishioner who is in a nursing home, either temporarily or permanently, please notify the Parish Office (330-533-6839) so we can add them to our nursing home list and schedule ministers to visit them. Nursing homes do not notify us if one of our parishioners is in residence there, so we must rely on friends and family to tell us. Lay Leaders of Prayer visit twice a month at Paisley House, Ironwood, and Windsor House of Canfield to do a Communion Service. We also have regular visits by Eucharistic Ministers to distribute communion to those people in the other nursing homes in the area.

If you are homebound or know of someone who is homebound and would like to receive the Eucharist, please call the Parish Office so you can be put on the visitation schedule.

When being admitted to the hospital, please let the admitting personnel know that you are a member of St. Michael Parish and would like your name to be included on our hospital list.
