Connection
In 2004, Several
Catholic religious education and pastoral ministry leaders in Mahoning
County
formed an organization known as “Catholic Connection” to
advance the vision of adult faith formation for Catholics in
Mahoning
County. Current
members of Catholic Connection represent St. Brendan, St.
Charles, St. Christine, Holy Family, St. Luke, St.
Matthias, St. Michael, and St. Patrick parishes.
Adult
religious education, or catechesis, is the principle form of
Catholic religious education.
Our bishops have repeatedly called the Church to an
educational vision that places adults at the center of our programs
and methods. This call
and vision is stated most clearly in the 1999
U.S.
bishops’ document entitled Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us: A Pastoral Plan for Adult Faith
Formation in the United States.
