St.  Michael’s Family Bible Challenge

Take a few minutes once a week to read one of the following scripture stories together.  As a family, discuss what the story is about and what it means to you.  After reading all four stories, decide which scripture story is your family’s favorite.  Come to Generations of Faith prepared to choose your favorite.

This month’s scripture stories are:

Genesis 18:1-8

This story shows the great hospitality that Abraham and Sarah gave their visitors…and they recognized God in these visitors.

1. How do we show warmth and hospitality to our visitors?

2.  How do we recognize God in other people?

Exodus 2:23—3:15

This is the story of Moses and the Burning Bush.

1.  We don’t see burning bushes in these days, but where do we see the presence of God?

2.  Moses was reluctant but God had confidence in him, are there things we know are the right things to do but are reluctant, where do we find our confidence?

3.  God asked Moses to take off his sandals because he was on Holy Ground; how de we treat items that are Holy?

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

The Great Commandments

1.  How do we take to heart the command to love God with our heart, our soul and our strength?

2.  This passage tells us to write the command on our doorposts…what do we have in our homes that signifies that we are Christian?

Genesis 9:8-17

The Story of God’s covenant with Noah.  Feel free to read the previous chapter, the story of the Great Flood.

1.  Talk about what a covenant is with your family, a sacred promise…

2.  Do rainbows remind us of God’s love?  What else might remind us of this?
