St. Michael’s Family Bible Challenge

Take a few minutes once a week to read one of the following scripture stories together.  As a family, discuss what the story is about and what it means to you.  After reading all four stories, decide which scripture story is your family’s favorite.  Come to Generations of Faith prepared to choose your favorite.

This month’s scripture stories are:

Genesis 28:10-22

This is Jacob’s dream when he recognized God’s Presence and promised to protect Jacob and his descendants.

1.  If God were to come to you in a dream, what do you think his message to you might be?

2.  Jacob promised to give one tenth of his belongings back to the Lord in thanksgiving, how are we thankful to the Lord and how do we give back to Him?

Exodus 39:32-43

After Moses receives the 10 Commandments from the Lord God, the Israelites must build a proper dwelling place for the Ark of the. Covenant which will contain the commandments…pay attention to the detail describing the dwelling tent and all that is in ti.  Be adventurous and skim chapters 35-40 that really go into detail about the tent and all the details.  Now, think about our church….what is similar, what is different.

1 Chronicles 16:1-13

The Ark of the Covenant (this holds the 10 commandments, the covenant) is brought to a special tent and there is a party!

1. This was quite a party with trumpets and cymbals and raison cakes for everyone ~ how de we celebrate special religious occasions?

1 Samuel 3:1-10

The Lord calls to Samuel in the night…

This is a great and well known story!

1.  Eli recognized that God was calling Samuel; do we recognize God in our life?

2.  Samuel responded very quickly and knew that he was a servant of the Lord, if we were asked to do something for God, how willing would we be?
